Baradene College of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic Girls School, situated in Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand, teaching girls from Year 7 until Year 13. The maximum roll is 1375, plus approximately 70 international students and a teaching staff of over 85.
Baradene is a school rich in history and tradition. The school was set up in 1909 by the Religious Society of the Sacred Heart. The Society of the Sacred Heart was founded by Mother Madeleine Sophie Barat. The essence of a Sacred Heart education is a deep concern for each person’s total development – spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, cultural and physical.
Baradene College is an academic College where achievement at the highest level is valued, and the diversity of student ability is acknowledged.
Baradene College runs a Personalised Learning Programme which specialises in assisting our girls with their different learning needs, whether that is Enrichment Learning (gifted and talented) or specific learning difficulties, for example, dyslexia.
All students in Years 7 to13 have at least two and a half hours of Religious Education in classes per week.
In Year 11, students have an opportunity to participate in the Social Awareness Programme for one term. This comprises community visits and an interesting array of speakers from areas of need such as the prisons.
Students in Years 12 and 13 are offered NCEA Achievement Standards.
